Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur or VNIT, Nagpur is one of the premier engineering institutes of India. Formerly known as Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur, it was set up in the year 1960. It is consistently ranked as one of the top engineering colleges in India and was converted into an NIT in the year 2002. It was conferred with the status of Institute of National Importance in the year 2007. The campus is located near the scenic beauty of Ambazari Lake in Nagpur. Along with accommodation arrangement for students the campus also has residential colonies for its faculty members.
